Well done to our previous winners South Street Kids (winners of round one) and the North West Ipswich Big Local Trust Community Garden (winners of round two)!

South Street Kids with DiGBY and their prize!

The competition will be running quarterly, with four opportunities for schools and community groups to take part.

Schools and community groups are invited to enter by showing in a creative way the benefits of composting and how they would make use of the prize – this could be through a video, a story, a poem, a poster or in another creative way!

Winners will also be offered the chance to receive a visit from DiGBY the octopus.

What happens to waste from my brown bin?

The compost we are giving to winners has been produced from the county’s brown bin waste which is created at the Material Change composting plant just outside Ipswich.

Made from garden waste including grass cuttings, tree, and shrub prunings, flowers, leaves and shrubs, it is turned into a nutrient rich Soil Improver.

DiGBY wants to share the process of how compost is made and highlight the importance of using your brown bin correctly.
